Services for cannabis-based medicine clinics.

I work with clinics, pharmacies, producers and the people trying to build something safe in a young and closely watched field. Here's what that looks like in practice.

This page is for organisations. If you're a patient or carer, start with the guides for patients and carers.

Start with a conversation.

Every piece of work starts the same way, with a conversation. You tell me what you're building, and I tell you honestly whether I can help. From there we agree a scope, a price and a finish line. Some people need a day; some want support over a year. Either works.

I don't sell products. If I think something you're planning could cause problems with a regulator, or for patients, I'll say so kindly and early.

Reviewing your patients in clinic.

Nurse-led follow-up and review for your patients, delivered as part of your clinic's registered service, under your clinical governance and in your records.

Consultants' time is precious. Most of what patients need after their first prescription isn't a consultant. It's someone who knows the medicines and has time to listen. Someone who can spot what's being missed, and knows when to escalate. That's the nurse-led model I've helped build, and it's the work I enjoy most.

I can:

  • run follow-up and review clinics for you
  • carry out pre-assessments and screening before a new patient reaches a doctor
  • hold a caseload of patients who need a steadier hand than a ten-minute review allows.

I'm used to pain, mental health, neurology and the complex, overlapping cases that don't fit a template. All of it is delivered as part of your clinic's registered service. I work within your policies, clinical governance, systems and prescribers' plans, and I document carefully in your records.

Sessions are typically booked by the day or half day. If you're not sure whether nurse-led reviews would work for your clinic, that's exactly the conversation to have first.

Governance and policy.

Policy suites, audit programmes, screening tools and patient communications that satisfy regulators and, more to the point, keep patients safe.

I've written governance frameworks and policy suites for clinics of every size, from brand-new services to large national ones. I've been through inspections with them too. I try to write policies that work on a busy day, not ones that simply exist. I also try to make sure they answer the questions the CQC, Healthcare Improvement Scotland and HIW ask.

What I can help with:

  • a full prescribing and clinical policy suite for cannabis-based medicines, or a review of the one you have
  • an audit programme with the audits people will actually complete
  • screening tools for cannabis use disorder, mental health risk and legislative compliance
  • the shared-care process between your consultants and your prescribers
  • incident, safeguarding and complaints processes that fit your clinic, whatever its size
  • patient communications that stop the same questions arriving in your inbox every day.

I can also carry out a readiness review before an inspection, or before you open.

Service design and set-up.

From blank page to first patient: pathways, shared care, staffing, nurse-led clinics and the paperwork that holds it all together.

I've helped design services from the very beginning, including nurse-led clinics and an aftercare team. I've also built specialist pathways for patients who needed their own screening, consent processes and ways of communicating with families.

You might be opening a clinic, adding a new pathway, or bringing a pharmacy and a clinic together. I can help you:

  • map the patient journey end to end
  • write the standard operating procedures
  • plan the staffing and the clinical roles
  • set up the multidisciplinary review
  • build the reporting you'll need to show the service is safe.

I also have experience of managing hospitals, so budgets, rotas and the difficult conversations are familiar ground, not just the clinical side.

Training, CPD and speaking.

Competency frameworks, workshops, talks and panels that turn curiosity about cannabis-based medicines into safe, confident practice.

Most nurses, pharmacists and doctors still get no formal teaching about cannabis-based medicines. That gap often gets filled by patients, producers or the internet. I'd like to help fill it with practical teaching from people who do the job.

I offer practical, evidence-based training for clinical teams:

  • an introduction for staff who are new to the field
  • deeper work on screening, titration, follow-up and the tricky conversations
  • competency frameworks that let a clinic show a regulator exactly what its nurses are trained to do.

I also mentor individual nurses moving into cannabis nursing.

For conferences, podcasts and panels, there's a separate page with a bio and a headshot ready to go.

Not sure which one you need? That's the usual starting point.
