Accessibility.

I want everyone who needs this website to be able to use it, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or British Sign Language.

What this statement covers

This statement covers thegreenthistle.co.uk, which is run by James Clyne Gunn, trading as The Green Thistle.

The standard I'm aiming for

I'm aiming for the site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Some things are already in place: every page declares its language, there's a "Skip to content" link, form fields have labels, images have text alternatives or are marked as decorative, and the site respects your device's "reduce motion" setting.

Known problems

The site is being redesigned. A review in October 2026 found some problems that the redesign is meant to fix, including small text that doesn't have enough contrast with its background, form fields where keyboard focus is hard to see, and a pathway explainer that partly relies on hovering with a mouse. Once the new design is live I'll check it against WCAG 2.2 AA and list here any problems that remain, with what I'm doing about them.

Contact me in British Sign Language

I'm fluent in British Sign Language. You can talk to me by BSL video call: email james@thegreenthistle.co.uk or use the contact form to arrange a time. If you live in Scotland, you can also call me free through contactSCOTLAND-BSL, the national BSL video relay service.

Reporting a problem, or asking for another format

If something on the site doesn't work for you, or you need information in a different format, please email james@thegreenthistle.co.uk. Tell me the page and what went wrong, and I'll reply within a couple of working days.

Statement prepared October 2026. It will be reviewed after the redesign.
