How I write these guides.
The guides on this site are meant to explain how things work in the UK, in plain English, so that you can make your own decisions with your own clinicians. Here's how I write them, check them and keep them up to date.
Who writes them
Every guide is written by me, James Clyne Gunn, a Registered Nurse (Adult), NMC registered since 2009 and working in cannabis-based medicines since 2021. Each guide says who it's written for: patients and carers, clinicians, or clinics.
What they are, and what they aren't
They're general information. They aren't clinical, legal or financial advice, and they don't replace a conversation with your own clinician. They're written to inform, not to persuade anyone to start, change or stop any treatment. I don't prescribe, and the guides never name or recommend a particular clinic, pharmacy, producer or product.
No sponsorship
Nobody pays for or sponsors the guides. There's no advertising on this site and no affiliate or referral links.
Sources
Where a guide describes the law or official guidance, it lists the official source at the end of the page: for example legislation.gov.uk, GOV.UK, NICE, the NHS and the healthcare regulators. I only list a source once I've checked that it says what the guide says. Where a point is my own view or experience, the guide says so.
Reviews and corrections
Every guide shows when it was written, when it was last reviewed and when its next review is due. I review each guide at least once a year, and sooner when the law or official guidance changes. If you spot something wrong or out of date, please email me. I'll check it, correct the guide if it needs it, and update the review date.
